OLD FASHIONED POUND CAKE

 

Mix in the flavoring of your choice (such as vanilla extract) and then gradually add the milk, alternating with the flour mixture. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined after each addition. Do not overmix.
Bake:
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool:
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serve:
Slice and serve the pound cake plain or with whipped cream and fresh fruit, if desired.
