Fresh Strawberry Pie with Homemade All Butter Crust

It’s Pie Month here in Sugar Apron !!! Do you have a strawberry pie recipe that you love?

This pie is the easiest thing to make in the world. As a kid, I had a backyard strawberry patch, and smaller, tasty bunches of wild strawberry near an old wooden wall. My mom used to send me out into the back yard with a measuring bowl and tell me to fill it up to the streak. I would pick out the few largest berries from the spot and then fill the rest of the bowl with the small, redder cranberry. Let me just say that fresh strawberries are much tastier than supermarket and frozen strawberries. It is naturally sweet and melts in your mouth. Back in the kitchen, she was chopping berries and glaze with some sugar and cornstarch to thicken and fill a crust made of lard (you can smell pork, honestly).

So, today, I’m sharing my all-time favorite strawberry recipe, with a few changes. The best thing about this recipe, besides the fact that it will remove your taste buds, is that it’s only five ingredients, six ingredients if you count water.

it’s easy. Easy as a Sunday morning. Easy, easy, easy. But, it also means strawberry takes center stage – where it belongs.
