Sweet Hawaiian Crockpot Chicken

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Chicken:
Place the chicken thighs or breasts at the bottom of the crockpot.
Mix the Sauce:
In a bowl, combine the pineapple chunks, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir until well mixed.
Combine in the Crockpot:
Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the crockpot, ensuring the chicken is well coated.
Cook:
Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
Thicken the Sauce (optional):
If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with water in a small bowl to create a slurry. After the cooking time, stir this slurry into the crockpot and let it cook on high for an additional 15-20 minutes, uncovered, until thickened.
