Meatball Pasta Casserole

Instructions:

Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F.

MEATBALLS INSTRUCTIONS:

Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, cheese, minced garlic clove, salt, pepper, basil leave in large bowl.

Mold the mixture into small balls having a 1 inch diameter.

Meatballs should be baked for 15-20 minutes until they are cooked through and browned.

COOK THE NOODLES:

While meatballs are baking cook egg noodles according to package instructions until they become al dente then drain and set aside.

MAKE THE SAUCE:

Firstly, melt butter in a big frying pan on medium heat. Cook until they have become transparent and fragrant, but an onion or garlic once chopped.

Continuously stir for 1-2 minutes while adding flour to the onions and garlic creating a roux.

Gradually add beef broth followed by heavy cream while whisking well as this will thicken the sauce.

Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, ground nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste until melted cheese is achieved and smooth sauce consistency is acquired.

Casserole Assembly:

Combine the cooked egg noodles with meatballs into a large mixing bowl. Pour all the mixed sauce over it then gently stir so that everything becomes coated evenly.

Pour mixture into greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Evenly spread it out and cover with foil.

Baking:

Put in preheated oven at 350°F (175 C°) for about 20 – 25 minutes or until casserole is hot through and bubbly.

Remove foil off then bake for another 5-10 minutes to make the top lightly browned

Garnish & Serve:

Before serving garnish with fresh parsley.

Hints for Success:

For best flavor, use freshly grated Parmesan and cheddar cheese.

 

To ensure even cooking make sure that all meatballs are uniform in size

Allow the casserole rest before serving so that the sauce can set
