Ingredient Notes:
Cherry Pie Filling – We’re sticking with canned pie filling for this recipe. It’s so quick and easy, and it really does taste great!
Crushed Pineapple – Canned ingredients keep this simple and quick and ready to make during any time of year.
Yellow Cake Mix – Another simple ingredient! You can use any brand of boxed yellow cake mix that you like. If you have trouble finding it in the exact amount called for it’s okay to use a bit more or less here. Dump cake is hard to mess up!
Butter – The butter gets thinly sliced and added as a topping with the yellow cake mix. It’ll melt and help turn it all nice and golden brown on the top.
Other – There are plenty of other ingredients you could use to switch this recipe up. Feel free to top your dump cake with chopped nuts for some crunchy texture, or shredded coconut for some chewy texture!v.
What We Love About This CHERRY PINEAPPLE DUMP CAKE Recipe:
Easy: Definitely the best part to any dump cake recipe is just how simple it is to prepare. Dump it in the baking dish, and bake! It’s hard to mess this one up.
Delicious: We said the best part is how easy the cake is, but the second best part is how dang tasty it is. This is always quick to get eaten and people always ask for the recipe!
Versatile: You don’t have to stick to cherry and pineapple! You can swap out the cherry pie filling for pretty much any other canned pie filling or even homemade pie fillings. Use any fruit mix you like!
Easy as 1, 2, 3, 4…
Spread the crushed pineapple into a 9×13 baking dish.
Top it off with the cherry pie filling.
Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top of the fruit.
Arrange thin slices of butter over the cake mix and bake!
Pro Tips
No Mixing: Mixing the ingredients will cause this to bake up funky. Just layer it in and trust the process!
Dry Cake Mix: The cake mix goes on dry – don’t add the oil and eggs like the box calls for. Again, just trust the process.
Butter: We slice the butter into very thin pieces and arrange it over the cake. Another method is to melt the butter and drizzle it evenly over everything. Either way works.
