Classic Meat Lasagna Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Meat Sauce:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef (or a mixture of ground beef and Italian sausage)
1 onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to cut the acidity of the tomatoes)
Salt and pepper to taste.
For the Cheese Filling:
15 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg, beaten
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or 1 tablespoon dried parsley
Salt and pepper to taste.
For the Lasagna:
12 lasagna noodles
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (in addition to the amount for the filling)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (for topping).
